Roles and permissions
A ~350-word founder-facing Tipoff help article explaining member vs admin roles, the separate corpus-management grant, and how admins invite users and assign roles.
Tipoff keeps access control deliberately simple so a small GTM team can move fast without an IT gatekeeper. Every workspace has two roles — member and admin — plus one special grant for managing your ICP corpus. This article explains what each can do and how to invite teammates.
The two roles
Member is the default. Members do the day-to-day GTM work:
- Run signal plays and browse detected signals (job posts, filings, news, community activity).
- View account tiers, ICP fit, and company-level site-reveal data.
- Enrich contacts through the waterfall (this draws on shared Tipoff credits).
- Build lists and push accounts or contacts to connected integrations.
Admin can do everything a member can, plus own the workspace:
- Invite and remove users, and assign or change roles.
- Manage billing, the credit budget, and usage caps.
- Connect and disconnect integrations (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Prosp, Instantly, Slack, Zapier).
- Configure workspace settings and defaults.
As a founder, keep at least two admins so you're never locked out, but resist making everyone an admin — members already have full access to signals and enrichment.
Corpus management: a separate grant
Your ICP corpus is the reference set that drives account tiering, so editing it re-scores accounts for the whole workspace. Because that impact is broad, corpus management is a separate grant, independent of the member/admin role.
This lets you tune access precisely: give a trusted member corpus rights without making them a full admin, or keep an admin focused on billing and integrations while leaving the corpus locked. Grant it only to the people who own your ICP definition.
Invite users and assign roles
- Open Settings → Team.
- Click Invite, then enter the teammate's email.
- Choose a role: Member or Admin.
- Optionally toggle Corpus management on for that person.
- Send the invite — they'll receive an email link to join.
To change someone later, open their entry under Team, adjust the role, and toggle the corpus grant as needed. Removing a user revokes their access immediately.
